Poulsbo Animal Clinic is seeking quality full-time and part-time Veterinary Assistants to join our skilled and compassionate animal care team. We are a 2-doctor, AAHA-accredited, small-animal veterinary practice in beautiful Poulsbo, WA. Duties include but are not limited to:
- *Maintenance of patients which includes feeding, laundering bedding, and cleaning cages and runs.
- *Communicating with clients to obtain patient history and discuss doctor recommendations.
- *Basic patient care and treatment
- *Animal restraint
- *Obtaining blood samples and performing in-house lab tests at the doctor’s request.
- *Monitoring the behavior of animals and reporting any changes.
- *Assisting in a multitude of tasks involving patient care and facility maintenance.
- *Doctor and veterinary technician assistance as needed
- *Cleaning and stocking exam rooms.
- *Surgery patient preparation and scrubbing in with the doctor to perform as sterile assistant in surgery.
- *Performing dental cleanings on patients while a licensed veterinary technician monitors anesthesia.
- *Storing and retrieving bags of food for customers.
- *Emptying the trash, mopping floors, and other cleaning duties
- *Surgical suite cleaning, instrument cleaning/sterilization/maintenance
Qualifications:
You must be customer service-oriented, organized, motivated, friendly, have a positive attitude, and be able to work as part of a fast-paced, cohesive team. You must be able to lift 40+ lbs and follow safe handling procedures for all animals. The ability to remain calm, cool and collected is always helpful. Veterinary experience is preferred.
